K: The teacher understands and can identify differences in approaches to learning and performance, including different learning styles, multiple intelligences, and performance modes, and can design instruction that helps use students' strengths as the basis for growth.

K: The teacher knows about areas of exceptionality in learning--including learning disabilities, visual and perceptual difficulties, and special physical or mental challenges.

First, is “The Way They Learn” PowerPoint and Handout.These artifacts represent INTASC Standard 3.A.K. for this class assignment I read a book called The Way They Learn which is all about how children and adults learn and how there are many different ways to learn.Through reading this book and participating in my group’s group presentation, the PowerPoint, I know now how that there are so many different ways to learn.Second, is my Cerebral Palsy Handout, representing INTASC Standard 3.B.K., that became a part of a larger accumulation of exceptionality handouts from my whole class and made into a folder.This class and this folder have truly widened my eyes to the wide range of needs out there and how they could all come through my door and be my students.I mainly chose Cerebral Palsy because I really did not know anything about this special need until I had to do this project and I learn about so many more than just mine along the way like Autism, Articulation Disorder, and Asperger’s Syndrome just to name a few of them.

These artifacts, the Handout, PowerPoint, and Exceptionalities Folder all show how my future practices in the classroom will be all inclusive and will never leave out an individual because he or she is not able. I have seen through these artifacts and many other classes that the ways children can be included in the classroom when that child has an exceptionality are endless. They can be as simple as moving a desk for more room or putting a student up close so they pay attention better. They can also be as complex as getting a specialized professional to come into the classroom and assist on the day-to-day activities.Either way it is necessary as the teacher that I am knowledgeable in the different special needs students can have and to know of different accommodations I as the teacher need to provide. These students are a vital part of the classroom and should not be forgotten just because a teacher is not prepared in the different types of children with exceptionalities that can be a part of the classroom.Everyone is important and no one should be left out.
